AI chess lessons from your own games
AI chess lessons are most useful when the machine reads your own games. Chess X-Ray runs Stockfish over your chess.com or Lichess games, measures what each move cost, finds the positions where you repeat the same losing move, and builds a lesson on each one.
What the AI does, and what it does not
The analysis is Stockfish, the strongest open-source chess engine. It measures every move you played against the best move in the position. On its own, an engine gives you a number per move; that is not a lesson.
The lesson comes from looking at all your games together. The same position comes back, you play the same move, it costs you again. Chess X-Ray finds those repeats, ranks them by what they cost you, and keeps the 10 that matter most.
How it works
- Type your chess.com or Lichess username. No password, nothing to install: we read your public games.
- Stockfish goes through your recent games, every time control, and measures what each of your moves cost.
- We group the positions you keep reaching and keep the ones where you play the same losing move again and again.
- You get your 10 costliest mistakes as lessons: your exact position, your usual move in red, your turn to find better, then the right line and the point to remember.
Why not just ask a chatbot?
A chatbot has not seen your games, and it can describe a position wrongly. Every move in your lessons is checked by Stockfish on the real position from your game, so the right move is the right move.
Try it on someone else first
The streamers’ courses are built the same way from public games, and they open without an account. You will see exactly what your lessons will look like.
Frequently asked questions
Is there an AI that can teach me chess?
Engines like Stockfish are far stronger than any human, but they only give evaluations. Chess X-Ray turns those evaluations into lessons, by finding the mistakes you repeat in your own games.
Which AI analyses my games?
Stockfish, the open-source chess engine, on every move of your recent chess.com or Lichess games.
Do you need my chess.com or Lichess password?
No. We read your games through the public chess.com or Lichess API, using your username. We never ask for your password and never sign in to your account.
Can I see a lesson before I start?
Yes. The streamers’ courses are built exactly like yours, from their public games, and open without an account.
How long does it take?
Usually about 10 minutes, 24 hours at the latest.
